    HellKat's Garb Wishlist

    Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 2:41 PM [General]

In light of the oncoming Faire season...and when I say oncoming, I mean in four months...I may be excited....I decided to jot down my garb wishlist.  Also known as Kat's garb is not what she wants, and that needs to be fixed.

    So...

    1.  Black frock coat.  This is in progress.  I'm selling my engagement ring for it.  It'll be awesome.

    2.  Black chemise-style shirt.  White gets old.

    3.  Black tri-corn.  Actually, any black piratey hat will do.  I'm just partial to my tri-corns, is all.

    4.  Black and red skirts, for those My Ass Looks Too Big Today For Breeches moments.  I'd like a black and a red each, so I can layer accordingly and switch up the looks a tad.

    5.  Pale green chemise-style shirt, preferably in the half-style (aka, reveals the midriff).  And yes, I'm playing into the Greensleeves visual pun, simply because I adore the song.

    6.  Tan boots.  Knee-high, or over the knee.

And...that's it, actually.  Surprisingly short, when I really take a look at it.

PS, if anyone is a vendor that carries these items and think you are the best deal I'll get, do contact me.  ^_^

    Silver Leaf -- Buccaneer Beerfest

    Monday, August 6, 2007, 5:08 PM [General]

So, McKenzie, RJ and I went to the Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire this weekend. Unfortunately, the camera that we took all of our pictures on fell on the ground at the tail end of our last day there, and all of the pictures from it were deleted. We were very, very upset, because we had lots of fun pictures on it, including a couple of pictures of Kenz and I with Ded Bob. Alas, they're gone. Hopefully the official photographer of the event, who asked Kenzie and I to pose for him, will post that specific photo on the faire's website, so I can yoink it and post it here so you can see our garb, at the very least.

Anywho, despite a lack of pictures, I can at least describe the weekend, because it was quite fun. ^_^

On Friday night, I went over to Kenz and RJ's to stay the night, since we were leaving for Battle Creek in the morning. We decided to make it a stay-at-home night, and found a Scrubs drinking game on the internet. This involved drinking a certain amount when the characters did something specific, like, when you saw Elliot's bra, or when JD had a daydream. We decided to add one that involved drinking for every syllable Dr. Cox added to a word, because that's one of our favorite things about the show.

On Saturday, after a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast a la RJ, we headed out. There's nothing like lugging two suitcases to the car, with two women carrying their swords because they won't fit into the suitcases. And I took all of my garb, people. That includes:

    White off-shoulder poet's shirt
    Reversible underbust bodice
    Red satin corset
    Black waistcoat
    Black suede breeches
    Tan loose breeches
    Black boots
    Brown studded belt
    Tan wide belt
    Sword and scabbard
    Dagger
    Lots of jewelry

And that doesn't include just regular, civilian clothes and toiletries, which I also brought. I brought everything simply because I didn't know what I wanted to wear each day. The only reason my black corset stayed home is because the boning is poking through in a spot and I have yet to mend it. XD

So yes, we made our way over to Battle Creek, and since we could not check into our motel until 3:00, we went to the faire garb-free to scope out some last-minute garb additions. Kenzie and I finally found hats! I got a simple brown tricorn (though I wanted black...none of those fit my massive head, apparently), and Kenz got a brown round hat with one side rolled with red and gold feathers. We were very excited. We also bought small suede red pouches for our belts, so we could actually carry our cash without our very-modern purses. *lol* Then we went back to our motel to change. Kenz only brought one outfit, which consisted of brown breeches, very sexy brown boots she could just walk in, a white off-shoulder poet's shirt, black corset, brown belt, and, of course, her new hat. I chose the black breeches, boots, shirt, hat, and the reversible bodice with the very pretty pale green side out. So we returned, upon which time I bought black suede bracers, simply because my wrists felt jealous of my waist, which was very decorated with my sword, dagger, pouch, and various pieces of jewelry. We got to see our first joust (GO CANADA!), as well as various little comedy bits. It was all a lot of fun. ^_^ We went back to the hotel for the night, armed with mead that we found at a liquor store, and vegged out on mead and pizza while watching Comedy Central.

When we woke up on Sunday, it was very rainy. :( So we went to Old Country Buffet for breakfast (mmmm), and stopped at Target for umbrellas before we went to get dressed for the faire. I wore mostly the same outfit again (I didn't trust the tan breeches to remain opaque when wet) with the exception of wearing the red corset and more booty on my belt. And honestly, even though it was raining for a good hour after we arrived, I really enjoyed myself. We saw a very funny sword-fighting show ("POTATO! MONKEY.") and, the crowning moment, the Ded Bob Sho. And, of course, given that I was sitting at the end of the bench and in very plain view, I was targeted by Ded Bob. I got Bobmotized, fondled accordingly, and sent on stage to be a Zombie. It was a whole lot of fun, with many good quotes...

    BOB: Okay, now sit down.
EM: *looks at stage* Right here?
BOB: ON THE BENCH, YOU NINNY.

BOB: *while acting out a story, I was playing Mary* Now, Mary was mad.
EM: *does the angry woman attitude pose*
BOB: That's...kinda scary... *ahem* Oh, she was HOPPING mad.
EM: *pauses, then crosses arms over chest and hops*
    BOB: OH. SHE CAUGHT ON.

BOB: *Now, Mary was sweet, petite, and virginal.
EM: *tries unconvincingly to look innocent*
BOB: Yeah. Just pretend. We all saw the pictures.

Then at the end, after he let the two other zombies leave the stage, he made me stay, claiming I won the big prize, which was "a kiss on your dainty cheek." So, I tilted my head a little, and all of a sudden the damn puppet swings 'round and kisses me right on the bum. I tried my best to look scandalized and not laugh, when he said to always turn the other cheek. Which I did, by turning around. Only to have him take a rather alarming nibble on my backside. *lmao* Good times. ^_^ I also secured a pretty new (larger) pouch for my belt made of peacock-patterned fabric with blue jewels hanging from it.

After we left (and after a masterful quick-change in a McDonald's bathroom, we came home. Fun was had by all, and good GOD did it feel good to come home and shower after tramping around in mud all day. XD

Today, I must go over to Grand Rapids and attempt to get a new cell phone. Please GOD let me get a new cell phone. I really don't like not having one. O.o
